Difference between ERW Steel Pipe and UOE Steel Pipe

First, the difference between raw materials and production capacity
ERW steel pipe material is hot rolled coil, UOE steel pipe material is hot rolled coil. Therefore, ERW steel pipe can achieve continuous pipeline operation, high production efficiency and low production cost; while UOE steel pipe is used for processing, it can not achieve continuous pipeline operation, low productivity and high production cost. The maximum thickness of ERW steel coil can be 25 mm and the maximum diameter 660 mm, while the maximum thickness of UOE steel coil can be 40 mm. The maximum diameter generated is limited only by the width of the sheet, and the maximum diameter generated by current can be 1422 mm.


Second, the difference between welding
No additional wires are needed for ERW pipe welding and wires are needed for UOE pipe welding.


3. Appearance differences
Internal and external welds of ERW steel need to be removed, so corrosion protection is beneficial; UOE pipe wall welding not only has high corrosion resistance.


Fourth, the difference between purchase cost and difficulty
ERW steel purchasing cost is low, UOE steel pipe cost is very high, the general price difference is 15% - 25%. The purchasing difficulty of domestic UOE steel pipe manufacturers is relatively low. When the diameter < 406mm, the difference of purchase cost is greater. The purchasing difficulty of ERW steel pipe manufacturer is relatively low. When the diameter < time 406mm, the cooperation will reduce the purchasing cost.


Fifth, application differences
ERW steel pipe is mainly used for long-distance land pipelines such as natural gas, refined oil, crude oil, pulp and so on. UOE steel pipe is mainly used in long distance pipeline of high pressure submarine, alpine area, land area 2, 3 and 4.
