Seamless steel pipe is a kind of long steel with hollow section and no joint. Smls pipe is used for conveying fluid pipes. Compared with solid round steel, Smls pipe is a kind of economical section steel with lighter weight in bending and torsion strength stage. It is widely used in manufacturing structural and mechanical components, such as oil drill pipe, automobile transmission shaft, bicycle frame and steel scaffold construction.


Smls pipe is made of high quality carbon steel or alloy steel. It is hot rolled and cold rolled (pulled).

There are many ways to produce SMLS tubes. According to delivery requirements, hot rolling (about 80-90%) or cold rolling and cold drawing (about 10-20%) can be provided. The billet used for hot rolling pipe has round, square or polygonal ingot, billet or casting billet, and the quality of billet directly affects the quality of pipeline. There are three basic processes for hot-rolled pipes: (1) putting ingots or billets into hollow thick-walled pipes on punch press; (2) rolling thin-walled pipes in extender to the wall thickness of finished products; and (3) rolling finished pipes in finishing mill. The mill unit is represented by the maximum outer diameter of the production pipe.
