ASTM Material Standards are developed by the American Society for Materials and Testing. ASTM Material Standards may include chemical, mechanical, physical and electrical properties of materials. These standards include descriptions of test methods for building materials, as well as the size and shape of these materials. Building materials such as concrete may need to conform to ASTM standards before they can be used in construction. ASTM A53 and ASTM A106 are widely used.
ASME is the standard of American Association of Mechanical Engineers. ASME material specifications are based on ASTM, AWS and other recognized national and international standards published specifications. ASME standards are required by law in the construction of infrastructure such as bridges, power plant pipes and boilers. In ASME, B16.5 is widely used.
ASTM is responsible for formulating and re-establishing standards for all types of new and old materials. Because it is the correlation between testing and materials.
ASME will selectively absorb and filter these standards for related work and make modifications to improve them.
ASTM is an American material standard, similar to the domestic GB713.
