ASTM A513 ERW Carbon Steel Pipe
The steel manufacturer shall analyze each heat of the steel to determine the percentage of the specified elements; if secondary melting is used. Thermal analysis should be obtained from a remelted ingot or from a remelted ingot product for each main melt. Thermal analysis shall conform to the specified requirements. The chemical composition determined by the product analysis conducted by the tubular manufacturer shall meet the requirements of the thermal analysis requirements, except where the thermal characteristics are not maintained or the analysis is incomplete enough to determine the consistency. Such an analysis report shall be provided to the buyer when required by the order or contract.
If there is a requirement on the purchase order, the supplier can provide the product analysis hall. The number and source of samples for analysis of such products shall be based on a single heat or batch identification of one of the following materials:
Maintain heat identification - Product Analysis for each heating should be carried out on flat rolled raw materials or pipes.
No heat identification is maintained - for every 2,000 feet (610 meters) or smaller tube over 3 inches (76.2 mm), and for every 5,000 feet (150 meters) or less with a size of 3 inches or less.
If the original test for product analysis fails, two additional length flat rolled billets or tubes should be retested. Two re-tests of the components concerned shall meet the requirements of the specification: otherwise, all remaining materials in the heat or batch shall be rejected, or each length of flat rolling or pipe can be tested and accepted separately according to the manufacturer's choice. The length of flat rolled material or pipe which does not meet the requirements of the code shall be rejected.
